Literacy Program
Our Literacy Program is a part of our Blue Blooms Program which caters to the different educational needs of students from marginalized communities aged 4-15.
In this after-school program, the students learn English and Mathematics through a trauma-informed approach. Additionally, the young learners get help with their school homework and exams.
The overall objectives are -
To create a safe environment to learn and to heal through 5C skills (critical thinking, collaboration, communication, capacity to learn and conscience).
To instill the ‘gift of wonder’ in learning.
To build agency and mindset shifts in parents to create a child-centered family.
Our Literacy Program runs in three groups of mixed-age students, with each group focusing on different objectives as per the needs of the students. These groups are Early Star (4-6 years), Foundational (7-10 years) and Remedial (11-15 years).
The specific objectives of each group are
Early Star: To cultivate basic literacy skills using a holistic approach to prepare young learners for school.
Foundational: To enhance literacy skills particularly to improve comprehension and writing.
Remedial: To bridge the educational disparity among students, specifically in Mathematics.
