Theatre Program
Our Theatre Program is a part of our Blue Blooms Program which caters to the different educational needs of students from marginalized communities aged 4-15.
In this after-school program, the students attend storytelling, dance, and theatre workshops. The themes involve gender, equality, social justice, caste, disability, etc. to foster social awareness and presence among the learners to help them become active and informed members of their communities.
The overall objectives are -
Creating a Platform to Access Creative Arts
Creating a Safe Space for Expression
Building Confidence and Communication Skills
Social Transformation Through Representation
The foundation for this program was laid during Dalit History Month (DHM) 2024. The initiative for the program arose during a Needs Assessment conducted within three communities (R.K. Puram, Malviya Nagar, and Nangloi). During this assessment, both parents and children expressed their desire for extracurricular activities such as drama, storytelling, dance, arts and crafts, emphasizing the positive impact these activities could have on the overall development of their children.
These theatre workshops helped the learners immensely with their acting confidence and skills in their performances at Ukkattha Fest 2024.
